I am writing you this letter to say thank you so much for your publication and for all of your help and support you have given my husband and I over the past year and a half with regards to our advertising. In November, 2002 when Lucky Dog Pet Sitting was only a glimmer, we heard about The Pet Press and thought that it would be a great place to start. We didn’t know how to begin really… we just knew that if you don’t advertise, how is anyone going to know you exist. The first person I spoke with was Jacqui. She was a ton of help. She gave me all the information I needed to get started, not to mention she had a great disposition and wonderful personality. When it came time to speak to you regarding what the ad would look like, I was a bit ignorant and didn’t really know how to proceed. You helped me without making me feel like a complete moron. You mentioned that it may take about 3 months to get a response from the ad. I was patient knowing these things take time. Well, I am happy to say, we got a response within the first month of advertising! We knew we were on our way. Little did we know that it was going to propel our business into the living thing it has become only a short year and a half later. Since then, we are booked daily and have bookings all the way into next year! About 90 percent of our client base has heard about us from The Pet Press and the rest are referrals from that 90 percent. We are currently advertising in other known publications, but in my experience they have not benefited us as much as The Pet Press has. I also wanted to mention that our ads have paid for themselves time and time again, so we feel it is worth every penny to advertise with you. It is our opinion that if you are a pet sitter and need to advertise, do it with The Pet Press. Here are some of the things we have been able to accomplish since advertising with you: Monthly donations to CAPS (Companion Animal Welfare Society) Incorporate Maintain long lasting relationships with people and pets Enhance our quality of life Grow, thus being able to give work to others
And those are only a few of the benefits we have experienced. My only complaint is not enough people to give work to. I sometimes have to turn work down because I simply cannot handle all of it myself. It is a blessing and a curse. I want to again say thank you so much for The Pet Press and for giving us all the opportunity to succeed where we may not have had the chance to otherwise. I hope for further success and that we continue working together to help each other make success happen. Sincerely, your friends, Debbie & Jeff Obarski Lucky Dog Pet Sitting |
I just wanted to drop you a line expressing my gratitude for your publication. Thank you for allowing me to submit articles for The Natural View column. It has been a great experience and has given me a chance to share my knowledge in several areas of natural pet healthcare with your readers. Also, the ad that I have placed in The Pet Press has generated a lot of interest in what I enjoy doing teaching Animal Massage. Again, thank you and keep up the good work! Jan Stewart, ACS |
Just a note to let you know how much response we have been getting from our ad in The Pet Press. We have been keeping a log all month to track where our calls are coming from... The Pet Press is definitely in the lead over all our other advertising avenues! Thank You! Kris Goddard, Paradise Ranch |
I wanted to take time to let you know how pleased we are with the great response we have had from our advertising in the Pet Press. We have been able to provide 12 of your readers so far this month with a non-anesthetic alternative to routine dog & cat teeth cleaning. I would also like to mention how much enjoyment we have had meeting these people. Theyve been really great. Keep up the excellent work. HOUNDSTOOTH looks forward to many more months of great advertising to wonderful people. Kathy Shafer, Houndstooth |
Thanks for all you did for us for "Festival of the Animals". Your articles were very helpful in getting the word out. Our event was a huge success. We raised much needed funds for our programs and placed a lot of animals in good homes. Everyone had a great time. We were fortunate that Steven Seagal and his family were able to attend along with the other celebrities. Rochelle Lord, The Archer Foundation |
I wanted to thank you for publishing my "want ad" in your Pet Press. The phones have literally been jumping off the hook with people calling to volunteer their services to be a Pet Therapy Volunteer. Thanks again for all your help. Mitch Leichter, Program Consultant- Windsor Healthcare |
I just wanted to let you know that after the last issue of the Pet Press came out mentioning my website, I have had a huge response. Since I started my site in January I have had almost 600 hits and I believe most of that is because people saw it in your magazine. I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to you. If it has helped even a few people find pet friendly apartments I am happy. Thanks again. Krista Fowler, www.petmotion.com |

Just a note to say I find your list of rescue groups in The Pet Press to be invaluable. Every time I find out someone is going to commit the unconscionable act of actually purchasing a dog from a breeder or pet shop, I cut out your list and pass it along to the potential offender. I find people who are fixated on one particular breed have no clue that a rescue group for that breed most probably exists. You are doing a great service by printing this. By the time I have clipped out coupons and faxed articles to friends, there's not much of my issue left. Like Dr. Laura, all we can do is continue to teach, preach and nag! Diana Berrones, Sherman Oaks |
I just picked up the "The Pet Press" for the first time and was extremely impressed. It is an excellent paper, and though modestly done in black and white, is filled with tremendously useful information. David Geffner and "Satellite" (an 8 yr old wire fox terrier), West Hollywood |
Thanks for all your help in getting our important message out there. We greatly appreciate all that you are doing! Joyce Neal Amaro, City of L.A. Stormwater Program |
Got a copy of your Oct 99 issue of Pet Press. Wow. Very impressive. May not be as slick as some others but the information was great, well laid out, great ads, etc. I'm a prosecutor who handles animal abuse cases (although right now Im home on a medical leave). I see lots of publications but I really like yours. Just thought you'd like to know. Bob Ferber, Calabassas |
We have received some very positive feedback from District Managers on your publication. Thank you so very much for continuing to promote Departmental Services - especially our mobile adoptions and free clinics. Thanks again for all you do. Jackie David, Public Information Director City of Los Angeles, Dept. of Animal Regulation |
Congratulations on a great issue. I enjoyed it over lunch
You manage to squeeze an awful lot into your publication! Let me also mention the enormous love and dedication that so clearly goes into your paper. There is so much to enjoy within it. I particularly appreciated this issues From the Editor article -- learning about your interesting past and the parallels you find between TV and publication production, getting updates from last issue; and the guided tour through the current issue. You are performing a very great service in a very high class manner. You are truly a Queen in the Animal Kingdom. Laurel Airica, PS Enterprises |
Just a note to congratulate you on the latest edition. A tremendous amount of work resulting in an exemplary product. Your newsletter truly serves a wonderful purpose. Ear scratches and a big click and treat to you! P.S. I've received several calls, from Thousand Hills to Pasadena about Melissa's story. Everyone loved it. Thanks! Paul Owens, Nonviolence Works |
I would like to thank you for publishing such a wonderful, informative newspaper. It has proven to be a great resource for our clients and staff. Keep up the good work! Pamela L. Magette, Executive Director, PAWS/LA |
I discovered just how wonderful The Pet Press was when I rescued two retrievers I found walking down the street with collars but no tags. Without the extensive information about shelters and rescue organizations in one place, I would have spent days researching the various ways of trying to find the dogs' owner. I got great advice from the organizations I called, and the story had a happy ending. The dogs were reunited with their owner and were very happy to go home!! I really want to thank you for a great magazine. Keep it up! Tina, Sherman Oaks |
I want to tell you how wonderful the new issue is. Each one is better than the last which is quite a feat in itself. You should be very proud of yourself. I KNOW you are making a huge mark in the area. THANKS!!! (from me and all the animals you are helping) Jamie Lewis, Zip A Dee Doo Dog Day Care |
Just wanted to let you know that I have received two new clients as a result of the Spay For Life in your November issue of "The Pet Press" and it has only been out a week! I certainly will continue to place an ad in this wonderful publication on a regular basis. And congratulations on the good work you are doing in helping animal rescue/ adoption/ spay/neuter programs promote their services. Liz Stauffer, Spay For Life - Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program |
Thank you so much for the latest edition of the Pet Press. And, thank you also for the top-of-page mention of www.metropettracker.com. I know you know that it is much appreciated. Who better to know the challenge of getting the good word out, and doing it so well. Thank you also for mentioning the importance of the unification of the entire Los Angeles community of those involved in animal welfare and rescue. The ultimate power of so many working together would be the victory over all we are fighting for and against. But, the battle against egos is a mighty one knowing it has destroyed more than it has ever created. Pet Press is like Topsy - it just keeps on growing and growing. Madeleine Fisher-Kern, www.metropettracker.com |
I was very pleased with your story and the picture was fine. Thank you for doing a good job. Bob Barker |
A friend called and told me he saw the paper at a Deli in the Valley where he was having lunch and to his surprise he came across my article. That was really cool. I have a lot of confidence that this venture will be a great asset to me. Thank you so much for the opportunity. Sandy Toye, Attorney at Law |
On behalf of the Pet Orphans Fund, I would like to thank you for the write-up you gave our shelter in the current edition of The Pet Press. It is articles such as yours that help promote our facility and spread the much needed awareness of so many homeless animals. We appreciate your support and dedication to our worthy cause and we welcome and applaud your new magazine. Leslie Campbell, Promotions Director, Pet Orphans Fund |
Thank you for running my column, Alisa Merlin's Pet Advice. It's great to be able to share my experience and expertise with your readers. I've already gotten calls regarding teeth cleaning, and some friends have called to say they picked up your paper and saw my article. You're definitely out there! Keep it going. We need the Pet Press. It's a great resource, and I swear I'm not kissing up!! Continued success, Alisa Merlin, Encino |
Based on last months blurb in your wonderful "Pet Press" of our free spay/neuter clinic for feral cats, we were brought about 3 feral cats, who, if left to reproduce on their own, would potentially have added approximately 672 more ferals to L.A.s 3,000,000 feral population. So you see, you had an effect!! Thanks a lot... Liz Cava, Best Friends Catnippers Clinic |
What a wonderful magazine you have - the Pet Press - kudos to you for your willingness to make sure all animals are well taken care of! Kimberley Smith |
Your paper has served as a wonderful advocate for the animal world in general, especially focusing on rescue as opposed to most magazines that sell out to breeders. Your quick, massive distribution has been phenomenal. It must be great for advertisers because I literally see your paper in every animal outlet I visit on a daily basis. Who would have thought that when we met last September at the spay-neuter ordinance meeting that I would one day be enjoying all your efforts for the animal community? Thanks for doing such a great job. Paula Warner, Pet Taxi, West Los Angeles |
I want to let you know how much I enjoy reading the Pet Press and appreciate the work that you are doing. You are providing a very valuable service for both animals and us humans. Thank you! I think it's wonderful that you publish a list Pet Adoptions and also of Animal Help Agencies and Rescue groups. Please accept my congratulations on the wonderful job you are doing with the Pet Press. I look forward to reading all the upcoming issues from cover to cover. Keep up the good work! Tunde Garai, Los Angeles |
